2009 Honda Accord Coupe

For three decades, Honda has played a leading role in meeting environmental challenges.

Environmentally Conscious
The 2009 Accord Sedan is a fuel-efficient, clean-running automotive wonder. The Accord LX and EX 4-cylinder sedans with manual transmissions get an estimated 31 mpg highway*. And, as an added bonus, all Accord models run on regular unleaded gasoline.

ULEV-** and PZEV-Rated
Honda was the first manufacturer to offer Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicles (ULEV) rated emission technology† on a production vehicle. Thanks to the 2008 Accord, Honda became the first automaker to offer a lineup that includes both 4-cylinder and V-6 models meeting the even stricter Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle (PZEV)

Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle.**MT models are ULEV-2 rated in all 50 states.†AT models are PZEV rated in California and states that have adopted California emission standards.

It's not just a car, It's a mission statement.

More than just steel, aluminum, rubber and glass, the Honda Accord is a collection of ideas. Like the belief that being responsible and having fun are not mutually exclusive. Or that the proper hierarchy in automotive design is man first, machine second. Or that innovative engine technology can result in both power and efficiency. These are among the principles you’ll find at work in every Honda. Culminating in the 2009 Accord.

In 2008, Yahoo! created a brand-new award to recognize the number-one car on Yahoo! Autos. The criteria were user interest, intent and satisfaction, and the winner was the Honda Accord Sedan. Yahoo! noted that "[w]hile the head-turning styling and spirited performance appeal to the senses, other amenities of the Accord Sedan address rational concerns. Besides Honda's emphasis on great efficiency, the Accord boasts numerous standard safety features, including electronic stability control, six airbags and anti-lock brakes."

Winner in the Sedan category for vehicles $25,000 to $30,000, the 2008 Accord takes “Best in Class” with V-6 performance, fuel-saving* engine technology and a longer interior cabin. This redesigned over achiever is built with a modern design and more power, safety and luxury than ever before. Best in Class Award-Winning Features: * Five-year service cost: $3,175 * One-year insurance cost: $1,489 * Resale value in 3 years: 62% -- 5 years: 47% * 19 city/29 highway mpg*
*EPA-estimated mpg 19 city/29 hwy/22 combined for V-6 Sedan models. Based on 2009 EPA mileage estimates, reflecting new EPA fuel economy methods beginning with 2008 models. Use for comparison purposes only. Do not compare to models before 2008. Your actual mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle.

By definition, a benchmark is the example by which all others should be judged. In the eyes of the editors at Motor Trend, that honor now firmly belongs to the Accord. Put head to head against Toyota Camry, the Accord showed that it simply offered more: “the Accord reigns as the best of the best—the benchmark.” *

In its January 1983 issue, Car and Driver chose the Accord to be on their first-ever 10Best Cars list. In their article, they called the Accord, "a remarkable automobile from a remarkable automobile… company."* In their January 2009 issue, Car and Driver said, "it’s clear; 27 years later, that praise still applies."† They call the Accord a "mainstream pacesetter… [with] crisp responses and exacting path accuracy that have always made Accords so satisfying to drive."† Twenty-three 10Best awards in 27 years—only the amazing Accord.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognized the Honda Accord Sedan as a 2008 "Top Safety Pick." The award was based on several extensive tests, including a frontal-offset crash test, side crash test and rear-impact test. In addition, each winner was required to have electronic stability control available as either standard equipment or as an option. Active safety systems such as stability control can help drivers avoid collisions altogether. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®), also known as electronic stability control, is standard equipment on the 2008 Honda Accord.

The keen-eyed experts at AutoWeek found little to criticize when introduced to the all-new Accord. In fact, their reaction was quite the opposite. After a thorough inspection and test drive, they found that “everything about the new model is larger or better, whether you’re looking at overall size and interior volume, power output and fuel economy or the list of standard features.” The attention to detail that went into the building of the Accord got a special nod, as one reviewer noted: “Every fit appears as if some tiny carpet installer got in there with his knee kickers and stretched the material taut around every bend and tight into each corner.”**

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2008 Accord Sedan five stars (its highest rating) in driver and front passenger crash tests.† These frontal crash-test ratings are a testament to the advanced safety engineering that comes standard on every Accord. †Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov)

Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass produced hybrid, the Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California’s low emission vehicle standards, well in advance of regulatory requirements. Acknowledgement of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda’s topping the rankings as the country’s greenest automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)?for the fourth time in a row.*
